I read this link here.. and thought hey we're halfway there already... Surely Eve could fulfill NASA's needs? Seriously, think what it could do for Eve if they could be convinced that this game could be expanded in the name of real scientific research!
Imagine having your ingame Char view surfaces of planetsa in our Solar system, or control experiments in real NASA craft.. Just some of the things they are asking for from a MMORPG Developer.
EVE has already developed lots of the graphical stuff and this would be a permanent free advertisement.. :) There would be no need to change the game mechanic, just a way to log into the serious NASA stuff (Maybe from a station or POS? - Or even a complex? Ports you through to the NASA server..
Come on CCP... Get into space for real!! :)
and Fly safe! :)
Interesting stuff. :)

I dont think that would be a problem, measuring the strength of UV light or simple experimentation like growing a plant etc isnt going to be any different no matter what the timescale and I also think that NASA would have a seperate process in the game that registered users could enter NOT every tom richard or harry! :)
Although I see no reason why players cant view that stuff going on that we never usually see.
Telemetry and live camera action etc.

I agree. This is something that could be all taken in CCP's stride they have handled this kind of stuff for many years and got better and better at it, and theres no reason a port to a N.A.S.A server couldnt load a game physics change.
It's not really a problem. I really believe EVE has the necesary "Eye Candy" to accurately reproduce anything N.A.S.A. requires for online simulation of experiments..
Originally by: Ishina Fel EVE disqualifies, however, because it does not possess an accurate physics engine, something which is very important to the NASA guys according to the article.
Mind, I don't think they're looking for existing games... they're looking for knowledge on how to run, manage and develop a MMO. It's a field they know nothing of - so they are trying to find someone competent they can ask.

No.. CCP has the right like any other company to charge it's client (N.A.S.A.)for a decent profit.
Thats the sum they could plough back into improvements and development for EVE-Online.

You need to realize that the funding for such a project will only go into said project
